Just in time for the 24th Birthday of the Linux Kernel, the Linux Foundation has released the first episode in a new web video animation series that shows us what a world without Linux might be like.

For those who are younger, it’s hard to imagine a world without the internet. But with over 96% of the top 1 million web servers running Linux, not to mention the countless other devices in the internet’s infrastructure that also run Linux, the first installment of the World without Linux explores what the world would be like (or was) without the internet.

The first episode also looks very polished with contributions by animator Amelia Lorenz who has worked on recent animated shows such as Gravity Falls and Star vs the Forces of Evil. There are several more — as yet unreleased — episodes listed on the World without Linux page, and these will be released in the coming weeks.
